We are looking for a motivated and talented Controller to oversee our accounting function and lead our book closing process. You will serve as a trusted adviser and partner to our leadership team, reporting to the Director of Finance. Together with the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for building out the long-term accounting function. This position is a perfect fit for those who bring an aptitude and desire to build best in class accounting processes in a fast-paced, quickly evolving environment.

A day in the life:

• Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions, including A/R, A/P, payroll, cash management, taxes, and balance sheets and related reconciliations
• Manage the month-end and year-end book close process
• Coordinate preparation of internal and external financial statements
• Perform budget variance analysis on a monthly / annual basis
• Work with corporate Secretary to ensure compliance with all state insurance regulations
• Oversee banking operations and cash management, ensuring cash management processes are sound, well documented, and strictly followed
• Manage and oversee the international payroll processes for US, Europe, Israel, and India
• Build out the finance and accounting function from a technical accounting perspective
• Identify and implement accounting process improvements and automation, including evaluation of accounting software and supporting systems
• Act as a partner and financial translator to operational leaders
• Review daily cash activity and coordinate investment of excess cash in bank accounts
• Mentor and support your team members, support their professional growth and nurture their curiosity

• 8+ years of professional accounting experience, [with at least 2 years closing books]
• Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant)
• Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• High proficiency with Excel and Gsuite
• Previous Controller or Treasurer background is a plus
• Insurance MGA experience is a plus
• Experience in a startup or high-growth environment a major plus
• Ability to distill complex analyses and ideas into clear and simple stories
• Adaptability to changing priorities circumstances
