The role will identify and manage the region\xe2\x80\x99s business and financial risks, ensure compliance with group and Clean Air financial policies and drive the continuous improvement and development of the internal control environment in the region. Working with the plant finance teams, the role will provide a second line of defence to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the region\xe2\x80\x99s balance sheet.

• Proactively identify and manage the business and financial risks in the region.
• Ensure adherence to Clean Air financial policies and processes in the region.
• Maintain and improve the quality and consistency of the internal control environment in the region.
• Deploy and maintain the Control Self-Assessment (CSA) process in the region, consolidate and explain the results and ensure agreement and closure of actions to address the issues identified.
• Monitor transformation projects and change initiatives, proactively identifying and resolving design and implementation issues.
• Perform regular reviews to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the region\xe2\x80\x99s balance sheet, appropriate application of accounting policies and reasonableness of key accounting judgements.
• Provide technical accounting advice to the region and own the treatment and resolution of complicated accounting issues, preparing technical accounting papers for review by Group Technical Accounting and the external auditors. Work with Group Technical Accounting and the plant finance teams to ensure that changes in accounting policies are implemented in the region.
• Review group feedback on monthly reporting (MOR) packs and work with the plants in the region to ensure that issues are resolved on a timely basis. \xe2\x80\x8b
• Manage the external reporting process in the region, ensuring on-time delivery of external reporting (FA) packs to Group Finance and supporting the provision of analysis and documentation to the external auditors.
• Perform a review of the half-year and full-year FA packs to ensure their completeness and accuracy for external reporting purposes.
• Document and explain the region\xe2\x80\x99s key accounting issues and judgements in the half-year and full-year Filings Assurance returns.
• Monitor the preparation and submission of statutory filings, including individual legal entity statutory accounts for the region.
• Ensure the timely closure of actions to address the issues identified in Internal Audit reports across the region.
• Be the central finance point of contact for risk management, financial policies, internal controls and technical accounting across the region.
• Communicate regularly with other members of the Sector Financial Controller\xe2\x80\x99s team, plant finance teams, Group Finance functions, including Group Technical Accounting, and Corporate Assurance and Risk to ensure the region is aware, and taking ownership, of the risk, compliance and control environment.
