The Finance Controller will manage end-to-end finance, accounting, and compliance functions for the travel agency. The role involves handling high-volume transactions, vendor reconciliations, GST compliance on travel services, cash flow management, and providing financial insights to support business growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Manage day-to-day accounting including bookings, invoices, credit notes, cancellations, and refunds.
Prepare monthly MIS, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
Ensure timely month-end and year-end closure.
Travel-Specific Financial Operations
Handle accounting for air tickets, hotels, visa services, holiday packages, and service fees.
Manage airline BSP reconciliations and vendor settlements.
Track commissions, incentives, and overrides from airlines, hotels, and travel partners.
GST & Statutory Compliance
Ensure GST compliance for travel services (domestic & international), including input tax credit reconciliation.
Handle TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory filings.
Coordinate statutory and tax audits and close audit observations.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
Monitor receivables from corporate clients and agents.
Manage advance payments to airlines, hotels, and service providers.
Optimize cash flow considering high-volume, low-margin travel transactions.
Budgeting, Cost Control & Analysis
Prepare budgets and forecasts for ticketing, packages, and service revenue.
Analyze margins by product, client, and channel.
Identify cost leakages, credit risks, and profitability improvement opportunities.
Systems & Process Control
Work with travel ERP / accounting systems and booking platforms.
Strengthen internal controls across billing, refunds, and reconciliations.
Team & Stakeholder Management
Lead and guide the finance & accounts team.
Coordinate with auditors, banks, tax consultants, and travel partners.
Partner with sales and operations teams to support business decisions.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong accounting and financial control expertise
Hands-on experience with GST in travel & tourism
Experience in BSP, vendor reconciliations, and commission accounting
Proficiency in Tally / ERP systems and advanced Excel
High attention to detail and ability to manage volume-driven operations
