Scope Of Responsibilities Reports to Field Service Engineering Manager and takes ownership technically for the delivery of Projects and support of services on customer networks. Assumes a Field Support Engineer role on Ciena Services Projects. Provide field-level evaluation of Network Design and Engineering Documentation to ensure accuracy and coherency. Provide tactical consultation and strategic guidance to Project Management for network turn-up and planning. Perform the Turn-Up, Testing, and Troubleshooting of various Ciena products in both Greenfield and In-Service environments. Perform and develop EMOP\'s for complex migration re-configuration tasks. Able to take a field technical lead role on projects working directly with Project Managers and the account team. Develop the Testing & Commissioning skills and competencies of internal Ciena Field Staff and Service Partners. Primary Duties And Responsibilities Deployment of Ciena Equipment on Customer\'s In-Service networks without impacting the services provided to the end user. This includes, but is not limited to, Channel Adds, Node Insertions, Traffic Migrations, and HW/SW Upgrades. Ensures the Customer\'s network is operating in a stable state as designed during Maintenance Window activities. Provides on-site technical assistance during complex Greenfield deployments of Ciena equipment to ensure that the network has been tested as per the Network Design Specification and is operating correctly prior to Customer hand-off. Provides and supports the delivery of Project Status Reports to Account teams. Assists with the execution of MOPs for both new Deployments and In-Service Upgrades. Uses knowledge and practical experience of Managed DWDM Optical Networks to troubleshoot and solve technical problems encountered during the deployment of both new networks and upgrades to existing networks. Escalates technical issues into Regional Technical Support, accurately defines the problem and participates in troubleshooting to ensure it is resolved to the satisfaction of customer. Supports deployment escalations to resolution. Interfaces and recommends deployment related process improvements to the Services Operations Manager. Required Skills Experience of managing and troubleshooting complex DWDM Optical Networks and resolving technical problems encountered during the deployment of green field networks and upgrades in existing networks. Experience of DWDM/CWDM Channel Addition, Node Insertions, Traffic Migrations, and HW/SW Upgrades. Hands on experience on testing tools like OSA, SDH Analyzer, Ethernet tester. Experience of creating and executing of complex MOPs for green field network and In-Service upgrades. Ability to understand and create network design documents. Ability to handle continuous international/domestic travel and accept unusual working hours. Ability to handle stressful situations during maintenance window activities. Capable of analyzing multidimensional problems. Ability to make decisions independently at site and execute those decisions in a timely manner. Self-Motivated and Customer Focused. Excellent customer interaction skills. Strong Leadership abilities. Ability to work in a flexible schedule. Willing to travel at international locations for project deployment. Strong Written and Verbal communications skills. Ability to work in a collaborative environment. Required Experience B.Sc./B.Tech. Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of discipline. 8-15 Years of directly related Optical/Ethernet experience. Experience of Turn-up and Test of Ciena Fiber Optic Transport and or Switching equipment, PC Proficiency - Ability to use a personal Computer and various software applications (MS Office, Basic Web Skills).
