About ISDM

ISDM got seeded as an idea in early 2016 when its founders came together with a common vision to launch a first-of-its-kind educational institution that would develop and groom the next generation of professional leaders and managers for the development sector. ISDM envisions building Development Management as a stand-alone domain and an aspirational choice for professionals in the development sector - similar to what Harvard Business School did for the corporate sector by introducing Business Administration in 1908.
By 2025, ISDM aims to become the go-to management institute for top professionals wanting to transform the development sector for a greater impact on people’s lives. In order to achieve this aim, ISDM has identified three broad focus areas


  • Continuously building the one-year-long Post Graduate Program in Development Management (PGP-DM);
  • Creating a strong research function that will lay the foundations for Development Management and leadership as a unique domain and discipline;
  • Launching Continuing Education Programs aimed at influencing and up-skilling middle to senior leaders in the social sector through special workshops, short-term courses, and customized convenings

Since launching its flagship (and India’s first) PGP in Development Management (the equivalent of a one-year MBA) in 2017, the Institution has placed 200 young professionals on an accelerated path to build, manage and lead Social Purpose Organizations (SPOs). ISDM has successfully executed 46 short-term Open Programs across three cities inducting 142 development professionals from 49 SPOs as ISDM alumni who are now redefining what “impact at scale” means in the development sector. ISDM has created a national character for itself, attracting a diverse range of student and recruiting organizations from across the country. Over these years, ISDM has also built strong partnerships with leading philanthropists, academicians, advisors, and practitioners.
ISDM has audacious ambitions to build a world-class institution, become a global fountainhead of development management knowledge, and define the domain of development management for the Social Sectors. The belief is that Management for the Social Sectors (or Development Management) will significantly scale up the positive impacts on the lives of people in sustained ways.
ISDM is entering a new phase of growth with a revamped program and renewed focus on establishing itself firmly as a preeminent institution in its domain. This requires strategic and energetic institutional leadership.
About the Dissemination and Publication Centre

The Dissemination and Publication Centre is a team within ISDM that works on identifying and creating knowledge and communication collaterals from the research, programs, and projects in the organization and customizes the dissemination of the same. We do this by working with the teams within ISDM to understand and determine what needs to be communicated, and then using the appropriate communication tools and social media platforms to communicate the message consistently and effectively.
Key Responsibility Areas

This role will involve closely working with the various teams across ISDM including the Digital, Curriculum, Faculty, Admissions, Placements, SCB, Research, Centres of Excellence, and Fundraising – to understand their communication and outreach requirements, their stakeholder groups, and target audiences; devise communication & engagement strategies; develop communication and engagement collaterals that address the requirements – across digital & physical channels; track the impact of these collaterals and optimize accordingly. They will be the communications specialist for all ISDM’s internal & external stakeholders. In addition, their key responsibilities will be to:

  • Work with all the teams to understand and map out their communication needs
  • Create and manage an annual road map and calendar of communication needs & collaterals
  • Construct effective, well designed, high impact communication collaterals, using existing material or creating new material, across both physical and digital channels
  • Create a range of collaterals from annual reports, PowerPoints, brochures, (e-)flyers, invites, e-mailers, social media creatives, creatives for webinars
  • Track, monitor, and help improve the performance of all communication collaterals
  • Coordinate with vendors on other tactical communication requirements and manage vendor relations

Educational Qualifications and Experience Required

We are looking for dynamic young individuals who are excited about creating something new and eager to be part of the journey of building the first-of-its-kind institution in India. They must be passionate about the development sector and keen to contribute to it. They must have:

  • 7+ years’ experience in external communications and allied roles
  • Excellent written communication and copywriting skills – long-form communication abilities
  • Ability to visualize, formulate and write content for external communications including newsletters, reports, direct mailers, presentations
  • Knowledge of stakeholder groups and messaging for external communications
  • Ability to co-strategize and implement events and contents for external communications requirements of the organization
  • Knowledge of media coordination and PR for organizational needs
  • Self-motivated and ability to deliver assignments individually as well as with teams
  • Experience with creating high quality, short-form audio-visual content
  • Ability to coordinate aspects of assignment with different stakeholders and vendors as required
  • An exceptional attention to detail
  • A working knowledge of key social media platforms
  • An advanced user of PowerPoint or other presentation software
  • Keenness to work in a start-up environment
  • Proven experience of working in complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, partners, etc
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership, have accountability and work in a collaborative, closely-knit, multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
