Job Description


Introduction

We are seeking an Indirect Tax Assistant to be part of our global tax function during a time when the tax landscape is changing at an unprecedented rate. This person will report to the Tax Manager and will work as part of the Global Tax Team to deliver an efficient global approach to indirect tax compliance. There will also be opportunities to assist in providing commercial indirect tax advice to the business.

The role will cover requirements from the group globally, particularly requests from London. As such, while the role is based on local hours (9:00-5:30pm in Gurugram) some flexibility will be required to cover day-to-day contact with London and occasional meetings with other global offices.

Accountabilities

  • Preparing and submitting global indirect tax filings for the group
  • Ensuring full compliance with filing deadlines and ensuring the group meets its record keeping and invoicing obligations globally
  • Ensuring internal indirect tax rates and internal indirect tax guidance documents are reviewed and kept up to date on an ongoing basis, and in a timely manner
  • Preparing monthly indirect tax reconciliations and reports, and performing the supporting tax accounting
  • Operating and monitoring the group\xe2\x80\x99s processes and controls relating to indirect tax
  • Working with the Indirect Tax Team to deliver process improvements through automation (or other efficiencies)
  • Providing support and input into global indirect tax audits
  • Providing support to the Global Indirect Tax Manager in advising the business on indirect tax matters
  • Providing support to the Global Indirect Tax Manager in applying for and managing the processing of new indirect tax registration applications
  • Assisting with the management of relationships with external advisors and compliance providers
Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills for this role are:
  • Education and training:
  • Qualified accountant with at least 3 years post qualification experience
  • Previous work experience:
  • Experience of working in a tax team within a global corporate environment
  • Experience of systems improvement, automation and standardisation of processes
  • IT:
  • Excellent IT and hands-on knowledge of VAT tools , billing systems and ERP systems, (ideally with VBA experience)
  • MS Office, Intermediate to Advanced Excel
  • Languages:
  • Excellent English
  • Key skills:
  • An understanding of the principles of global indirect tax regulations and reporting requirements
  • International VAT compliance experience is desirable but not essential
  • Personal attributes:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A desire to work as part of a team, and a willingness to take on new tasks
  • A natural curiosity and desire to keep pace with a fast-changing environment including new regulation around tax automation and the taxation of digital products
  • A structured and organised way of working and a proven ability to deliver to robust deadlines
