Inventory and procurement:

Manage the inventory of food, equipment, and supplies. Purchase ingredients from vendors and negotiate contracts, while minimizing waste and controlling costs.

Quality and sanitation:

Monitor food preparation and presentation to ensure all dishes meet standards for taste, appearance, and food safety. Enforce strict sanitation practices in the kitchen and surrounding areas.

Budget and financial management:

Oversee kitchen budgets, manage costs, and contribute to the financial performance of the culinary department.

Collaboration:

Work closely with other departments, such as restaurant management and front-of-house staff, to ensure smooth operations and a positive customer experience.

Trend awareness:

Stay current with culinary trends and identify new techniques to improve the operation.

Key requirements:



Experience:

Extensive experience in a culinary role, often with prior experience as a head chef or sous chef.

Education:

Culinary school degree or equivalent professional certification is often preferred.

Skills:

Strong leadership, communication, and business management skills are essential.

Knowledge:

Proficient knowledge of food safety regulations, inventory management, and kitchen systems.

Physical demands:

Ability to work long hours and perform in a fast-paced environment.
