Job Title:Exam Systems Coordinator

Purpose of job:

To support the design, development and continuous improvement of the Exams systems across the global systems portfolio in order to ensure that the systems operate efficiently and effectively and meet customer needs.

Role context

The Global Systems team is part of the Business Improvement function, accountable for overall design, integration and continuous improvement of globally used Exams Systems, with an objective to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of Global Exams delivery through maintaining a proactive approach to systems life cycle management and ownership. The Systems team works closely with the process team to ensure that processes are automated and improved to meet customer requirements and drive efficiencies. The team also reviews and proposes solutions based on changes in the industry landscape to complement existing systems or support emerging business needs.

Main opportunities/challenges for this role

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

Product, programme & service development

  • Implements an agreed set of project or programme activities (including planning, partner liaison and logistics) to ensure these are delivered to time, budget and quality.
  • Operates effective project/programme controls, risk management and monitoring processes to track progress and alert colleagues and partners to issues as they arise.
Under direction, uses agreed corporate templates to produce appropriate marketing and communications materials (across a variety of media), to help raise internal and external awareness of the area of system development, maintenance and improvement.

Customer/market focus
  • Takes responsibility for responding knowledgeably and professionally to enquiries about the Council's work within the specific area of subject or sector expertise, to ensure a high quality customer experience and maintain the unit or department's reputation internally and externally. Refers on to others only complex enquiries, or those outside own area of expertise.
Sector/subject expertise
  • Proactively maintains a sound working knowledge of major developments, issues and stakeholders within the area of System development, technology innovation and business improvement approaches to build professional credibility, confidence and market insight
Relationship & stakeholder management
  • Develops good working relationships with appropriate colleagues throughout the British Council including GIS, GSD, ET and related community to facilitate effective system development and delivery.
  • As required, represents the British Council at technology related events to ensure appropriate support is given to partners and other stakeholders.
Leadership & management
  • Plans and prioritises own work activities, which span across a range of different projects and programmes responding to changing and at times competing requirements to ensure effective delivery of responsibilities over a weekly/monthly time horizon.
  • Tasks and coordinates others (e.g. internal colleagues, external partners or third party suppliers) to complete activities in accordance with agreed project or programme milestones or requirements.
Qualifications

Technical qualification/Expertise

Role specific knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrable experience of working in environment using the leading methodologies in systems design and re-engineering to develop value adding systems.
  • Demonstrable broad experience of successfully supporting and delivering global systems landscape from a business user perspective and ensuring end user satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully supporting projects and systems development activities.
  • Working knowledge of progress reporting on systems development.
  • Experience of working in development lifecycle of a system, working as product owner in an Agile project.
  • Experience of supporting projects while working with virtual teams.
  • Ability to use, learn and understand systems that support operational delivery of any activity for a business.
