Job Description

An Ethanol Chemist performs chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished ethanol products to ensure quality control and process efficiency. Key responsibilities include conducting tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, documenting results, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role typically requires a degree in Chemistry and experience in the chemical or ethanol industry, working closely with production teams to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
Key Responsibilities

• Chemical Analysis:Perform routine and advanced chemical analyses on various samples using standard laboratory techniques and equipment.
• Quality Control:Support quality assurance by ensuring the quality of raw materials, in-process products, and the final ethanol product.
• Record Keeping & Reporting:Maintain accurate records of test results, prepare detailed reports, and ensure data integrity for production and quality teams.
• Equipment Maintenance:Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Safety & Compliance:Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and environmental and regulatory standards.
• Troubleshooting:Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve production or quality issues using lab findings.
• Process Improvement:Assist in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying needs, researching new technologies, and optimizing processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education:A bachelor's or master's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
• Experience:Previous laboratory experience, ideally within the ethanol or chemical industry.
• Technical Skills:Proficiency in laboratory techniques, instrument operation (such as chromatography and spectroscopy), and method development.
• Analytical Skills:Ability to analyze data, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
• Collaboration:Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
