Role Purpose

  • Responsible for the administration of all assigned servers, and related IT infrastructure components
  • Excellent knowledge of the implemented hardware and software components (Microsoft & third party operated by VCI)
  • Skilled in server virtualisation technologies and Cloud technologies like Azure as mandate
  • Professionally competent to develop his own expertise and share his knowledge within the team
  • Working for international customers in cross-cultural teams
  • Support complex issues working in an autonomous way, engaging other colleagues and/or other teams whenever needed
  • Develop a network of contacts in all other teams/organizations
  • Deep understanding/hands-on experience of Windows Server, Windows Clusters, Active Directory, Windows Security, Hardening, Troubleshooting
  • Good knowledge on Infrastructure components, GPO, Citrix policies
Key Accountabilities:

Impact on the business
  • Assure availability of the server farm according to the KPI targets defined by management
  • Maintain the server environments which support Vodafone\'s key business applications like customer care, billing, e-commerce, SAP, consumer, enterprise and cloud solutions
  • Provide best customer experience on server performance due to regular system reviews and pro-active performance and resilience improvements
  • Maintain a best-in-class configuration of the alarming system to ensure effective problem resolution before customer identification
  • Maintain service stability by the management of server components to minimise risk to services through active patching and firmware updates
  • Implementation of Best Practices, Standards and Procedures across all managed environments

Customers, supplier and third parties

Incident- & Problem Management
  • Responsible for fulfilment of SLA parameters to assure service availability
  • Perform trouble shooting and problem analysis leading to fault resolution. Identify root cause and provide customer feedback through appropriate channels
  • Generate, test and implement sustainable solutions for problems
  • Manage server vendors and partners to facilitate a swift and effective incident resolution
  • Quality assurance of server vendors by reviewing component replacements

Innovation and change
  • Investigate server technical product problems and expedite resolution
  • Review hardware and software infrastructure to ensure availability as appropriate for the Business Service Class. Identify and implement pro-active activities, maintain and improve service stability
  • Automate procedures and scripts to reduce on-call duty time efforts as much as possible
  • Evaluate security patches and bug fixes, drive required change and information flow
  • Create and document operational standards and assure highest possible resilience through regular component configuration backups
  • Determine and share standards

  • Evaluate the need for new releases and patches
  • Install new releases and patches
Knowledge and experience
  • Supporting operations of server platforms
  • Support activities needed to run operations of server platforms
  • Good understanding of ITIL and IT-Service Management
  • Good understanding of SOX and security regulations
