This role has been designated as 'Edge', which means you will primarily work outside of an HPE office.

Manager 1 - Engineering (SW CoE, Compute Business Group)

Location: Bangalore

Job Responsibilities

In your role as a Manager,

  • You will lead a dynamic team and participate in the process of product roadmaps with a customer in perspective
  • You successfully empower the engineers within your team to deliver high-quality products on time, every time, even as you take care of their personal growth.
  • Interact with senior leadership to work towards aligning your team goals with that of the HPE's Compute software portfolio
  • Define the goals for functional /system/ performance /scalability testing and drive the teams towards achieving these goals
  • Provide test engineering leadership, define automation best practices and set high standards for the entire team to build consistent and maintainable tests
  • Mentor/Coach resulting in the development our engineers

  • Articulate with superior communication skills and demonstrable success with the full software development lifecycles and experience with agile development processes.
  • A 'hands on' leader who partners and collaborates to build effective test strategies and can contribute and influence product architecture and functional spec.
  • Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing new products, enhancements and updates and coordinating projects for systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases etc.
  • Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated, and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps
  • Communicates and builds stakeholder relationships with vendors, program managers and internal and external development partners
  • Ability to manage and plan contract workforce scope and focus on building efficiencies and maximizing value from contract workforce
  • Define and monitor quality assurance metrics for continuous quality & process improvements
  • Hold peer teams accountable for Quality, process compliance and delivery on schedule
Expertise required:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with 12-15 years of experience or Master's Degree in Computer Science of which you have been a people leader for 2- 3 years at a minimum
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment. You are adept with CI/CD concepts, software release management and software quality metrics and have experience with tools like Rally, JIRA, Agile Manager and / or prior experience as Scrum Master.
  • Familiarity of functional testing with a wide array of BMC features in the areas of platform enablement, sensors, option cards, networking, interfaces like Redfish, IPMI, GUI, server lifecycle management, networking, SNMP, DHCP, DNS,BMC/BIOS defaults, Power faults, Power capping, Factory mode, PCI, BMC event logs, BMC security aspects, LDAP etc.
  • Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, team building, conflict resolution, and management.
  • Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
  • An understanding of datacenters, servers, storage and networking concepts
  • Experience in designing and determining test strategies, coding, automation, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution.
  • Must have familiarity of server management solutions and Platform validation, Options validation knowledge and low level and firmware knowledge
  • Hands-on experience in design and development of automation framework and simulators
  • Penchant for test automation for the product and end-to-end customer scenarios.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills
