Intro to role: We are currently looking to bring on a talented, self-motivated and conscientious Engineering Manager - Data Science to work in our Product & Technology group in Business Measurements, Insights and Analytics team focusing and gaining insights by processing, modelling & analyzing enterprise-wide data in the lake and warehouse . You will be providing technical leadership in solving complex and advanced analytics' use cases by converting insights into opportunitiesusing data science techniques. The Engineering Managermust be comfortable working with a wide range of huge data (structured and semi-structured and in some cases unstructured) generated by both internal and external applications, systems, services, users, and these data continuously flowed in from academic publishing business functions like editorial, production, sales, marketing, finance, and other domains. These data are made available by AWS cloud services, complex ERP and CRM systems, variety of on-premises systems and events across Taylor & Francis. The right candidate must have strong experience using machine learning and advanced analytical techniques and tools. What you'll be doing: Work closely with various stakeholders to drive analytical roadmap through combination of data mining techniques, use of statistical and machine learning techniques for data analytics, recommendation, and prediction services. Discover areas of the customer experience that can be automated through machine learning Understand the business reality behind large sets of data and develop meaningful insights comprising of analytics & value delivery Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders, cross functional teams to solve real time academic problems and create strategic & tactical efficacies. Define, build, and lead a team of Data Scientists, Analysts & Engineers. Experience in building and productionising machine learning and data science model. Have the mindset of rapid prototyping, developing proof of concepts and ability to address the short-term gains and identify long term strategies by working with fellow peers, architects, Business Analysts & product stakeholders. Ability to identify data pattern and analysing complex datasets Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, technology, budget and business within your department and design/implement solutions to meet these needs. Recruit, train, develop and supervise various members towards building data as service or product capabilities. Communicate results and business impacts of insight initiatives to stakeholders within and outside of the company. Drive significant technology initiatives end to end and across multiple layers of data and analytics engineering. Passionate for continuous learning, experimenting, applying the open-source technologies and software paradigms. Enrich and refine the backlog by working closely with delivery managers, analysts, architects in the academic publishing business domains. Managing the dependencies across the team, setting the expectations, and working towards addressing various goals and OKRs. Be a role model to engineers pursuing technical career path in data science, data engineering and data quality Qualifications What we're looking for : 13+ years of overall experience including but not limited to architect, design and development using various advanced analytics and data science ecosystems on AWS. A minimum 4+ years of hands-on association with AWS Analytical & Machine Learning services. Ability to successfully manage and lead a team of data scientists, engineers, business and data analysts through all phases of the data engineering and data science life cycle. Experience in Machine learning (decision trees, multivariate and logistic regression, kNN, kMeans, etc.) Experience in projects involving cross-functional teams. Active in the community in terms of articles / blogs / speaking engagements at conferences - this is an added advantage. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams. The ideal candidate is someone with the following: Experience using Cloud technologies: AWS Sagemaker, Lex, Comprehend, Textract etc. Experience querying databases both SQL and No-SQL.
