We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Systems Simulation and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) team, responsible for the simulation-driven design of HVAC products across various business units of Trane Technologies. As part of the Modeling and Simulation function within our Engineering and Technology Center in Bangalore, you will collaborate closely with internal and global product teams to drive innovation and excellence in product design.

RESPONSIBILITIES: * Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead and inspire a team of systems engineers, guiding them in applying MBSE practices and simulation techniques to optimize HVAC product design.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and global product teams to align project goals and ensure successful integration of systems engineering practices.
  • Organizational Goals and Engineering Support:
  • Cascade organizational goals to the team, providing engineering support and guidance to ensure their achievement.
  • Workforce Planning:
  • Take ownership of workforce planning, ensuring the availability of skilled resources in the areas of systems engineering and MBSE to support project needs.
  • Budget Management:
  • Contribute to the annual operating plan, providing inputs for budget planning and efficient resource allocation within engineering budgets.
  • Project Management and Accountability:
  • Oversee end-to-end project management, ensuring timely and successful project delivery while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • People Development and Engagement:
  • Foster the professional growth and development of team members, providing coaching, feedback, and opportunities for skill enhancement.
  • Promote employee engagement through organizing team-building activities and fostering a positive work environment.
Qualification: * Candidates must possess an MS or M Tech in Mechanical/Aerospace/Automotive Engineering, with a specialization in Refrigeration. Candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred, with a focus on Advanced Refrigeration systems, increasing energy efficiency in refrigeration systems or similar. Significant research or practical experience in these areas is highly desirable.
  • At least 8 to 10 years of experience in systems modeling and 1D simulations of thermal, mechanical, and electrical systems, including components such as heat exchangers, compression devices, HVAC components, and associated controls.
Must Have: * Good proficiency in Open Modelica, Dymola, MATLAB, Python
  • Proficiency in numerical methods and solvers, optimization, and robust design techniques.
  • Adherence to discipline with the development and adoption of standard development processes
  • About 5 years of experience in leading teams with direct people reporting.
  • Hands-on experience in model optimization, data analysis, correlation with test results, metamodeling, and using FMI (Functional Mock-up Interface) for co-simulation and data exchange.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders and manage expectations effectively.
Desirable: * Strong foundational knowledge and practical experience in both systems simulation and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Proven ability to develop and execute complex simulation models for performance optimization, design verification, and risk mitigation.
  • Skilled in utilizing industry-standard MBSE tools and methodologies (e.g., SysML, Cameo, Rhapsody) for integrated system design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of software programming techniques, including object-oriented methodologies and version control management.
  • Experience in developing, executing, and using test plans and data for calibrating and validating physics-based models.
