Design medium complexity high speed digital and power printed circuit boards. Position involves a degree of leadership in advancing and improving the PCB design process, design techniques and related technology.

The position requires a hands on understanding of the fundamentals of printed circuit board design, the hardware and software tools associated with design, and the electronic component packages located within a design. A global Design For Manufacturing mindset is essential for all designs. Must have the ability to organize, plan, and coordinate the PCB design tasks that are involved in a product development and the ability to make technical decisions that affect the direction of a design.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Design medium complexity high speed digital, analog and power printed circuit boards, based on knowledge of present and developing technology, industry standards (i.e., UL, CSA, NEMA, etc.) and Rockwell Automation specifications.

Familiar with PCB stack-up design, Signal Integrity intensive layout design techniques and at identifying potential layout design issues and providing options for solutions.

Perform medium complexity schematic edits as required.

Manages small complexity projects independently.

Ensures departmental compliance to quality requirements. Inspect and review PCBs for manufacturability and testability.

Proficiency in the creation for all PCB related documentation including the PCB drawing, module assembly drawing, PCB configuration and revision management, PCB parts list, and project folder.

Recommends possible PCB Design automation within the design tools.

Helps reach consensus and achieve results within a project team.

Participates in developing new methods, procedures and design specifications for the PCB Design team.

Documents/updates existing PCB design procedures, guidelines, and specifications.

Provides input to PCB Design project requirements and schedule estimates. Communicates project status, concepts and issues.

Work under the direction of senior members of the PCB Design team.

Collaborate with Hardware Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Signal Integrity & EMC Engineers from product concept to post-layout validation.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technology degree.

Minimum of three years of electronic design and electronic packaging experience.

Hands on design experience with computer-aided (CAD) tools, methods for PCB design, auto routers, crosstalk analysis, impedance matching, documentation and automated design rule checking.

Proficiency in communication of technical and business ideas through engineering drawings as well as written and spoken English.

Minimum of one year Siemens DxDesigner/Expedition or equivalent software package experience.

One year of experience with Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) systems, preferably SAP.
