Job Description

Purpose of the Role:

Synertrex Support Engineer - this position desires the individual who can performs technical support activities related to Configuration, Commissioning, testing of Weir Synertrex IIOT Solution. Provide field support related to Hardware, Software & trouble shooting. Co-ordinate, Facilitate and Manage Requirements for Reporting Requirements within Weir Minerals operations. Performs effective classification and prioritization of unresolved MD helpdesk incidents and problems.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

Manage testing and commissioning industrial control systems. Use of TwinCAT, field communication buses, control programs, development environments for programming, diagnostics and configuration.

Manage and solve node engine, gateway communication issues, system integration, debugging of node engine, Node engine development, basic node engine testing and development, Communication protocols. is desirable.

Create and maintain technical details, user manuals and technical documentation.

Support customization and optimization of configuration file (node file) for site specific requirements

Support constant development to improve robustness and capability of Synertrex platform

Technical support for field service technicians responsible for installation and maintenance of Synertrex systems

Support Implementation and integration of Synertrex applications in, but not limited to DCSs, PLC based control systems where includes configuration, and special customer requirements

Working with global team and DCOs on a day to day basis.

Compiling of SOPs for Synertrex.

Delivery of testing services to plan and execute software tests of all application components (functional and non-functional) to verify that the software satisfies specified Minerals Digital application requirements and to detect errors.

Modelling and development of test plans and procedures to optimise Quality of Data (QoD) outcomes.

Execution of Application test plans and procedures to optimise QoD outcomes.

Review, alignment and update of user and application support documentation

Support the development team with the new requirements and implementation process

Delivery of services in support of the administration and usage of Weir Minerals digital program.

Performs effective classification and prioritization of unresolved MD helpdesk incidents and problems.

Performs root cause analysis of unresolved incidents and problems, identifies the root cause and implements appropriate work around action for Synertrex Program reported issues.

Keeps relevant stakeholders informed of the status of reported issues, by producing reports/registers on defect/problem reporting.

Effective communication with other business units to ensure alignment and consistency Minerals Digital process documentation.

Education & Experience:

Degree / master's in, Electrical, E & C, Mechatronics or similar with 3-5 years of experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Systems and or Technology with focus on software engineering (testing, release management) and quality assurance.
  • At least two to four (2 - 4) years' experience in the operational support in IIOT.
  • At least two (2) years' direct work experiences with (The Windows Control and Automation Technology) TwinCAT, testing and commissioning industrial control systems.
  • Exposure to TwinCAT control programs, development environments for programming, testing, diagnostics and configuration.
  • Must have knowledge of communication protocol like RS 232, TCP/IP, Modbus TCP, Profibus DP, EthernetIP, CAN, ActiveX etc.
  • Good understanding of Digital product design & development processes.
  • Knowledge over Electrical & instrumentation devices. Should have broad exposure in Measuring Devices and knowledge of sensors both analog and digital.
  • Practical knowledge of Heavy Industry mechanical equipment, electronics engineering design analysis and failure analysis
  • Extensive knowledge of condition monitoring and condition monitoring equipment, configuration and condition monitoring system development and deployment
  • Practical experience in commissioning and optimization of field equipment
  • Configuration of complex systems (embedded + wireless + networking + SCADA + IIoT + ADC)
  • Network configuration and diagnostics and troubleshooting such as setting up IP addresses, network segmentation and segregation; determining network performance and diagnosing communication issues in both wired and wireless.
  • Experience with of sensor technologies, data acquisition, actuators, industrial communication, and control systems technologies.

Desired Skills:
  • Good understanding of product design & development processes of IIOT.
  • Good understanding and experience in Digital device Testing & Verification of functionalities.
  • Understanding of Digital IT system processes, technology, infrastructure and specification
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the control and management of ICT assets (or configuration items) including hardware, software, documentation, and services by the use and application of strict change management principles.
  • Understanding of managing a service to customers at agreed levels of service and quality standards, including the tools, methods and procedures used in the service.
  • Experience with SAP and other related ERPs and information systems.
