Job Title : Engineer I, Process

Reports to: Manager, Engineering

General Summary

Under general supervision, is responsible for developing, implementation of new automation equipments and coordinating method and processes to improve output of new and established priorities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement method and process production to improve time, equipment and people in all production process.
  • Develop alternatives and studies to modify equipment and introducing new methods to reduce production cost.
  • Research tools and equipment applied in production process to improve people, time and machines production process.
  • Responsible for handling product yield
  • Responsible for new product trials and Managing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation.
  • Elaborate actions plan to prevent non conformity product situation
  • Plan / develop and implement method and production processes to minimize operation time and improve equipment utility.
  • Study and develop alternatives to modify equipment and introducing new methods to reduce production cost. Work individually on SPM projects in-order to improve process time, efficiency and throughput.
  • Simulating and testing equipment / processes to ensure they function as desired
  • Collecting data and working on reports to outline new concepts, production outcomes, and ongoing efficiency
  • Programming, developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment / processes
  • Troubleshooting automated equipment / processes when errors occur. Also Works in close co-ordination with works coordinators and Operations Supervisors to ensure Establishment of work priorities / schedules

  • Working on improvement projects related to automation, efficiency improvement, yield improvement.
  • Management of a project team and training staff on implemented equipment / processes or on any changes to existing ones
  • Will help Analyzing and addressing production defects with Quality Representatives
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Will be required to participate in activities that require frequent time spent on the manufacturing floor and occasionally working outdoors
Types of Decisions
  • Deviations from established departmental schedules as needed
  • Quality decisions
  • Work assignment decisions based upon production plan
  • Make judgment call over consumable usage and control cost
Accountability / Impact of Job

5-8 years of work experience in a medium volume / mix electro-mechanical manufacturing or production environment with an emphasis on automation in manufacturing processes. Experience in field of automation specially developing and deployment of new equipment. Core competence to improve machine efficiency. Should have knowledge on solid works / AutoCAD software and TPM practice.

Related education & experience

Bachelor's in related curriculum such as Electrical or Electronics or Mechanical Engineering

Skills required
  • Preferred proficiency in SAP as it relates to time and attendance, material transactions, etc
  • Must have knowledge on lean excellence
  • Must have excellent communication/leadership skills
  • Must have excellent quality background - 6Sigma belt certification will be preferred
  • Must have excellent people skills and have strong potential for strong leadership development
  • Ability to effectively interact with personnel of different levels and teams.
