Engineer I – Embedded Hardware (Verification & Validation)

As a Jr. Engineer – Verification & Validation, you will be responsible for testing Asteria-designed or COTS safety-critical electronics used for drones, to validate whether they comply with new product development. This will include validating their design and verifying their functionality, performance, and safety parameters as per their intended use case/requirements/industrial standards. You will be responsible for designing and executing test cases/procedures in multiple environments to assure that the electronics can stand up to use in safety-critical drone flight applications. You will work alongside design, testing and customer support teams to play a critical role in ensuring the quality of new products developed at Asteria, by instituting and championing quality management processes.
Specific Responsibilities:

• Perform informal and formal testing efforts of embedded electronic hardware including PCBs, communication devices, sensors, actuators, cable assemblies.
• Review technical documents, specifications, QAP, design drawings etc. to validate design quality and identify critical-to-quality (CTQ) parameters.
• Develop and document test plans, test flow, test procedures, and test results.
• Inspect electronics to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, safety, and industrial standards.
• Troubleshoot system/component failures, diagnose, and report issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Identify and recommend improvements to improve technical performance of products.
• Under Sr. engineer’s supervision, research, investigate, and test new electrical product concepts.
• Establish technical expertise on equipment and provide technical support to internal / Production team.
• Identify and determine origin of deviation, isolate cause and provide solutions.

Qualifications: BE/B.Tech in Electronics/Electricals/Instrumentation
Relevant Experience: Minimum 1-4 years of relevant experience in electronics testing domain, preferably in new product development.
Desired Characteristics:

• Good knowledge of analog and digital electronics
• Understanding of design drawings, schematics, technical specifications and determining CTQ parameters
• Experience in developing test cases/procedures and executing/documenting test results for product verification and validation according to industry standards.
• Knowledge of interfaces such as USB, I2C, UART, SPI, Ethernet, CAN
• Proficient in using industrial test tools such as DSO, Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Multimeter, Power Analyzer etc.
• Passionate about product development, testing and quality assurance to produce high quality products.
• Practical experience in working with soldering/de-soldering equipment, SMD components and mechanical tools is welcomed.
• Excellent organizational skills, thorough, with attention to detail
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
• Self-driven, ability to work independently.
