Job Description

:

Major Challenges:

1. Implementation of best maintenance practices for ensuring uninterrupted & trouble free service of electrical equipment for smooth operation of the process which is continuous in nature and any interruption / breakdown is detrimental to the quality of the product.

2. Maximum manpower productivity & minimizing the maintenance cost especially while the process handles the chemicals / gases which are aggressively corrosive and affect electrical / electronic equipment very severely.

Major Challenges are us: 1) Ensure Planned Maintenance of Recovery process equipment's in view of non-availability of machines.

2) More often, Customers and Competitors aggressive quality standards forced us to formulate process changes and thereafter maintain quality parameters within stipulated time.

3) Managing spares inventory of imported items thereby maintaining low inventory cost.

4) Technological changes in Electrical field enforce to upgrade and keep track of obsolete categories item. This has high impact on operational/capex cost.

5) High attrition rate of the technicians basically due to lower CTC and high available options within location.

6) Enhance Skill level of the Technicians, which at present is forcing Engineers to involve at the grass root level activity.

7) Bring a cultural change in the Safety aspect of the team, and preparing them to adopt new standards

8) Dynamic requirement of process & frequent modification scheme.

9) Highly Corrosive environment leading to high level of corrosion of switchgear/electronic cards, resulting in higher failure rate.

10) Large focus area and multiple production plant to be maintained.

Key Result Areas/Accountabilities:

(A) Planned Maintenance :

1. Ensure implementation of preventive & predictive maintenance to minimize breakdowns & eliminate unplanned stoppages.

2. Ensure implementation of equipment upgradation plans to minimize equipment downtime & improve MTBF.

3. Maximize availability of all the electrical equipment by preparing suitable maintenance schedules.

(B) Cost Control:

1. Achieve minimum maintenance costs in order to contribute to maximizing overall profitability.

2. Ensure timely implementation of the schemes for power savings for enhanced profitability.

3. Regular monitoring of PM schedules for compliance & systematic implementation.

4. Implementation & up gradation of PM checklists to incorporate corrective steps.

5. Prepare maintenance program & ensure optimum utilization of resources & minimize equipment outage.

6. Monitor preventive maintenance jobs to restore the equipment to abnormality free status.

7. Plan & review maintenance budgets periodically.

8. Plan procurement of spares etc. to reduce inventory and reduce incidents of replacements. 9. Establish & monitor quality of spares.

10. Initiate corrective measures to prevent recurring breakdowns.

11. Workout developmental schemes by optimal utilization of resources.

12. Control contractual costs by developing in-house capability and reviewing costing of the contractual work.

(C) Development Activities:

1. Ensure prompt support in implementation of new schemes within the budgeted cost & time frame by organizing resources.

2. Ensure implementation of recommendations emerging from breakdowns analysis & carryout studies for identifying weak areas & take corrective steps to pre-empt breakdowns.

3. Study & develop schemes for improvements in electrical system.

4. Organize electrical work related to various developmental schemes approved by the management & monitor the progress.

5. Study various proposals for energy saving and implement feasible schemes.

6. Analyze all the breakdowns & prepare recommendations for corrective action.

7. Organize predictive maintenance to identify weak areas.

8. Organize remnant life analysis (RLA) studies for major equipment and take suitable corrective steps. Productivity

9.Ensure timely support to the process for improved process productivity & optimize productivity of deployed manpower.

(D) Safety:

1. Ensure compliance of safety norms & statutory regulations for electrical equipment & personnel.

2. Monitor optimum performance of electrical system for all process requirements.

3. Make the electrical network available for best reliability.

4. Provide clear action plan to the work force for best utilization of time & resources.

5. Monitor implementation of safety procedures & implement safety requirements in working through regular monthly reviews.

6. Monitor working at shop floor for use of personal safety gadgets. People Development

7. Identify & recommend suitable training & skill development of the people to build a competitive work force in order to provide highest quality of service to the main plant.

8. Identify & recommend training requirements for different levels.

9. Plan & recommend job rotation & multi skilling opportunities.

10. Safety Management

11. Ensure implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) concepts & other TPM / TQM initiatives.

12. Ensure QMS/EMS is followed.

13. Check implementation of WCM concepts in all work areas.

14. Take corrective steps for effective implementation of WCM sub committee working by all the teams.

15. Implement recommendations of audit & close non compliances.
