Core duties and responsibilities

Installation and maintenance

: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, such as wiring, control, and lighting systems, in commercial and residential settings.

Repair and replacement

: Repair or replace faulty parts in motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers, and other electrical components using hand and power tools.

Troubleshooting and diagnosis

: Use testing devices to identify and diagnose electrical problems, then implement solutions to fix malfunctions.

Safety and compliance

: Ensure all work is in compliance with local and state building regulations, the National Electrical Code, and other safety standards, which includes using appropriate safety equipment.

Inspection and testing

: Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems and components like panels, breakers, and conduits to identify potential issues.

Record keeping

: Maintain accurate records and logs of all installation, repair, and maintenance activities, as well as related expenditures.

System improvement

: Help modernize and improve existing electrical systems.

Teamwork and guidance

: Work individually or as part of a team to complete tasks. They may also provide guidance to less experienced personnel.

Emergency response

: Respond quickly to breakdowns to diagnose the problem and estimate the duration of any necessary shutdown
