Develops, implements, and monitors company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Maintains safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety inspections, monitors hazardous waste removal vendors and may assist in consolidating hazardous wastes (chemical, radioactive, and/or medical).

Interacting with a variety of departments conducts training in emergency response and hazardous material handling.

Monitors environmental compliance and maintains liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies. Recommends corrective action where environmental health and safety hazards exist.

The work of the EH&S Engineer who is an Industrial Hygienist involves industrial hygiene, life safety, and ergonomic compliance-related activities.

Interacts with others in the administration of the worker’s compensation program and the implementation of workplace ergonomics and program solutions.

Monitors industrial health compliance. Working at NTT Environment, Health, and Safety Officers implement the Environment, Health and Safety policies, ensuring healthy and safety conditions in the work environment to prevent harm, injury, and illness. They collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment, including those that harm the external environment.

The primary responsibility of the Environment, Health and Safety Officer is to analyze and design control for the prevention of occupational diseases, manage the risk related to the environment, and related incident management.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveys and assessments to identify hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public and develop measures to eliminate these.
  • Survey and investigate the working conditions, determine the causes, and recommend action that will prevent further incidents or accidents.
  • Provide advice around the practical steps to ensure compliance to laws and regulations that govern the environment, health, and safety matters.
  • Conducting risk assessments and related audits to mitigate organizational liability against relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provides new employee health and safety orientation.
  • Conduct safety training and education programs with existing employees, including demonstrating the use of safety equipment.
  • Coordinate and attend related committee meetings.
  • Collaborates with external stakeholders, including the local authorities, communities, hospitals, and disaster management groups to develop maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
  • Working knowledge and understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and other legal regulations that govern the environment, health, and safety in the workplace
  • Specialists in the environment, health, and safety field
  • Display influencing ability and good interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • Display planning, organizing, and problem-solving ability
  • Good attention to detail and display the ability to collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree level
  • Certificate in Health, Safety & Environmental Processes

Required Experience:
  • Demonstrated active working experience with the environment, health, and safety issues in a related industry/environment
  • Experience dealing with a variety of stakeholders and influencing decision making to manage business risk
  • Experience dealing with legislators and governing bodies
  • Typically requires demonstrable related experience with a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree; or moderate level experience and a Master’s or equivalent degree; or a Ph.D. or equivalent degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
