Job Description

Job Summary:


We are looking for a detail oriented and experienced ETL Tester to join our data engineering or QA team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for validating, testing, and ensuring the integrity of data as it moves through the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipeline. You will work closely with data engineers, BI developers, and business stakeholders to ensure data quality and consistency.


Key Responsibilities:


Analyze business and technical requirements to design test strategies for ETL processes.


Develop, execute, and maintain test cases for ETL workflows and data pipelines.


Perform data validation, reconciliation, and transformation testing between source and target systems.


Use SQL to write complex queries for data verification and validation.


Perform data profiling to understand data quality issues.


Automate ETL testing wherever possible using available tools or scripts.


Work closely with developers to identify and resolve defects.


Document test plans, test results, and defect logs clearly and thoroughly.


Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and production validation as needed.


Required Skills & Qualifications:


Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.


3+ years of experience in ETL testing or data quality assurance.


Proficient in writing SQL queries to validate large datasets. Experience with ETL tools like Informatica, Talend, SSIS, or equivalent.


Experience with database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.


Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.


Familiarity with data validation, data profiling, and reconciliation processes.


Experience with defect tracking tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.


Preferred Skills:


Experience with test automation tools or frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Apache JMeter, Python scripting). Knowledge of cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse).


Familiarity with version control systems like Git.


Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
