About the role

Short role description

  • Data Management Business Operations drives the planning, execution and decision-making that enables data management to deliver ensuring that employees are onboarded and trained, processes are fit for purpose, quality is maintained, DM is audit ready and that resources are assigned to deliver on the portfolio
  • Data Management Business Operations is a key part of CDI and ensure that key business processes for communication, capacity, recruitment, training, budget, business performance information, leadership team meeting support and quality/compliance are provided and managed successfully
  • In addition, Data Management Business Operations is responsible for overseeing and delivering central initiatives for Data Management within AstraZeneca.

Typical Accountabilities

  • To lead complex central initiatives for Data Management, including planning and implementation with little/no supervision. This is likely to include working with cross functional colleagues across Development Operations, CDI, TA aligned Data Management and other R&D departments
  • To lead specific area(s) of expertise within Business Operations with little/no direction from the Executive Director/Senior Director, Data Management
  • Oversee the delivery of teams that fall within Business Operations to ensure the smooth running of the business
  • Hold regular Business updates with the DMLT highlighting risks and ensuring business continuity
  • Work closely with collaborators from other functions to maximise success
  • Keep current with other Pharma companies to ensure that DM remains in the top 25% of industry for Delivering Data Management
  • To serve as a delegate for the Executive/Senior Director, Data Management for specific tasks or activities, as necessary

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Degree(s) in business and/or sciences, or equivalent. 8 -10 years proven experience in the pharmaceutical/medical/healthcare industry, development, research and/or commercial planning, and global coordination roles
  • Ability to understand business strategy and goals and generate new strategic options
  • Experience in working with senior managers - strong strategic influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to solve problems that involve many decision makers, and develop multiple options/recommendations
  • Extensive networking skills, ability to interact widely and effectively both within the company (on both an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary basis) and externally
  • Proven ability to work independently, and remotely, from key customers and collaborators and with little direction.
  • Proven project leadership/project management experience from drug and/or non-drug projects.
  • Proven ability to work with multiple customers and on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships
  • Excellent collaboration required - needs the energy to work across global & functional boundaries both internally and externally.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Data Management, Programming, Statistics or Information Practice
  • Recognized expertise in one or more of the following areas: communication, capacity, recruitment, training, budget, business performance information, quality/compliance
