About our Team

Our team is responsible for reviewing and analyzing financial information to identify the most important elements of our business performance. We aim to understand drivers underpinning that performance, and areas requiring management attention. We act as communicators between managerial and financial team ensuring timely, effective and efficient transmission of information requests and responses.

About the Role

This role is in charge of a number of process & reports improvements projects related to Direct Costs with a focus on Books Inventory & Direct costs metrics. It liaises with internal Finance teams to understand business requirements and needs for reporting and analytics tools. It translates these into solutions together with technology partners, who are the technical owners. Responsible for liaising with Digital Business Solution team (the technical owners of the finance applications) to gather and blend data and create management reporting and dashboarding.

Responsibilities

Improving Books Direct Costs reporting for multiple projects

Addressing lack of visibility on book inventory, net production costs, unit metrics analysis, insights on books obsolescence, reason for variances

liaising with our Digital Business Solution (DBS) team translating business needs into data gathering requirements. Many data sources / files need to be blended & stored in a database.

Creating dashboards using the gathered data to improve insights on the various business metrics identified above.

Supporting the One Finance project (one ERP across all RELX divisions) on Direct Costs related developments

Working with Business Decision Support to define and translate their requirements into solutions to help them forecast their direct costs

Requirements

Have an ability to frame complex issues and provide supporting data and analytics

Have excellent project management skills across multiple time-sensitive projects

Experience in finance management supporting financial analytics and reporting

Be able to demonstrate experience using data to drive decision making

Be a natural communicator with an ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, cross-functional teams and external teams

Experience with some analytical tools and languages (ex: Excel, SQL, Knime, Tableau, working with databases & blending data)
