In this role, you will be joining the Subsurface Modeling Technology Workflow Team, part of the Workflow global team under the Upstream Subsurface Digital and Data VP-ship. You will be part of a team that provides subsurface consultancy, in the form of workflow advice, technology deployments, and geoscience/petroleum engineering problem solving to the Upstream business. Working closely with leading Petroleum Engineering practitioners in the Upstream business will be routine aspects of the role. You will be part of a global team supporting subsurface developments in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas and part of a global network for sharing learnings within the Geoscience/Petroleum Engineering workflow community. What’s the role? As Digital Workflow Consultant, you will provide support for high quality project delivery by working in a fully integrated team. It will entail strong interface with the assets, understand the problem statement and suggest appropriate strategy for studies. The deployment portfolio will range from large brownfield redevelopment (including infill, waterflood and EOR opportunities) to green field development and exploration/appraisal projects in a variety of field/fluid set-up. The technologies in the portfolio include Well Location Optimization (WLO)/Subsurface Field Development Optimization (sFDO), AutoSum, AutoSim, Pysim and other technologies. More specific accountabilities are:
  • Providing reservoir engineering support to asset management & WRFM activities including consolidation & analysis of production data, history matching of reservoir models and production forecasting, subsurface field development optimization.
  • Deploying innovative, physics based and/or data driven solutions to the subsurface domain.
  • Provide analyses that provide key technical and strategic insights, transforming conventional working practices and ways of thinking.
  • Assisting with associated technology training to assets, support QRM team in testing new functionalities and liaise with QRM team and assets in deployment.
  • Identification and implementation of best practices and opportunities to streamline processes.
  • Be a committed role model for goal zero and other HSSE initiatives.
What We Need from You
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related technical field with 7+ years industry experience complimented by a robust relevant technical skill set.
  • Strong Skill of subsurface fundamentals e.g. Reservoir Engineering, Geology, Fluid, Flow through Porous Media, IRM workflows, to a level that you can swiftly spot potential pitfalls and avoid them, and to know how RE/PG/PT clients/customers think and what they look for.
  • Strong skills in subsurface modeling, reservoir simulation experience (CMG/Eclipse/MoRes), material balance, IPSM, and general forecasting principles.
  • Strong skills in Integrated Reservoir Modelling (IRM) and very good working knowledge of Decision Based IRM practices & standards.
  • Strong skills in analyzing large datasets efficiently and able to derive insights quickly and integrate with other discipline inputs to form a credible view.
  • Strong analytical mindset, ability to deal with sometimes conflicting data on different scales, uncertainties in data and model parameters.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills, good team player; enjoy working in multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
  • Demonstrate essential focus on HSSE and D&I.
  • Project management at knowledge level with commercial mindset
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing, to various audiences
  • Flexibility to cope with peers and stakeholders around the globe.
  • Demonstrated self-starter / self-motivation is an essential requirement to provide effective support/advice.
