This role encompasses the enhancement and maintenance of a distributed containerized system as well as the day-to-day operational support of the production environment. The role would suit an individual from a systems administration (Linux) background with strong experience with DevOps delivery practices such as immutable infrastructure, container orchestration, and Continuous Integration. The candidate will have the opportunity to deliver and enhance a Kubernetes platform (EKS) in Amazon Web Services. This will involve automating, deploying, and managing its microservices, their underlying native AWS services, and infrastructure, to ensure availability, performance, and scalability. Responsibilities Owner of the Deployment platform of the Team based on Kubernetes Infrastructure as Code, immutable infrastructure, and zero-downtime deployments Lead the migration of new web applications to the platform (AWS EKS - Kubernetes) Improve and build a continuous integration and continuous delivery framework Build/Document self-service tools that enable the dev teams to deploy easily and safely to the EKS platform Follows best practices to ensure the security of our environments Required Core Skills Strong experience in managing deployments in Linux Strong experience in deploying & maintaining containerized applications. Strong experience in deploying, maintaining, and administering Docker and Kubernetes via zero downtime deployments. Strong experience designing, building, operating, and troubleshooting with AWS EKS or Kubernetes Hands-on with IaaC tools - CloudFormation, Terraform Understanding and configuring the right security to protect infrastructure in Cloud Expertise in Docker. Ability to build Dockerfiles and help teams in creating lightweight Docker images Understanding of Package Manager for Kubernetes - Helm and Kustomize Understanding of traffic flow through Load Balancer in AWS and related Certificate Management Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) setup and administration Strong programming experience in a scripting language (Python preferred) Continuous Integration, Jenkins & GitLab Runners Candidate holding any certification i Kubernetes like - CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) would be preferred. Candidate holding any associate-level certification in AWS would be ideal.
