DevOps Engineer (Database and Storage Focus)

Cerence is looking for a DevOps Engineer that will help to build and manage Cerence\'s automotive cloud service\'s data stacks. This role will be on a team automating and managing several local and PaaS database technologies including MySQL, Postgresql, Cassandra, Redis, and others.

We are looking for a DevOps Developer that loves big data, or a database administrator that wants to expand his or her experience into DevOps, to power the systems that underlie Cerence\'s automotive cloud technologies including voice recognition, AI, and consumer services. You will be a key player (or a team leader) in a worldwide team of platform developers.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Be a key player on a software development and administration team, working with a peers worldwide to deliver global products.
  • Build and manage on-premise and cloud database technologies, ensuring the capacity, security, and efficiency of our solutions.
  • Automate the building and testing of new database and storage infrastructure.
  • Develop engineering testing solutions (unit tests, regression tests)
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Some 24/7 on-call as needed for emergencies
Knowledge required:
  • Be a flexible and quick learner, able to onboard new technologies as required by our customers and products and support them in a cloud-agnostic way.
  • Significant experience with one or more key database technologies including Postgresql, MySQL, Redis, and Cassandra/CosmosDB.
  • Experience with devops technologies such as Linux, Kubernetes, Puppet, Terraform, Jenkins, Artifactory, or related.
  • Knowledge in a high-level programming language such as Python, Go, Java, etc.
  • Knowledge in a database query language such as SQL
  • Experience with HTTP and Linux Networking
  • Strong English communication skills (written, verbal)
  • Experience working with source control systems (GIT, SVN)
Preferred skills:
  • 3+ years as a devops developer or related field (system administration, software engineering) or 3+ years as a database administrator or developer
  • Experience in Cloud Environments (Azure, AWS, Alibaba, Google Cloud)
