We are seeking a skilled and motivated Design & production Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical design graphics, proficiency in CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360), and a practical understanding of CNC programming (G & M codes), rapid prototyping, and production processes. This role involves designing from concept to prototype, supporting production line operations, managing tools and inventory, and implementing continuous improvement strategies across manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Design & CAD:
Develop mechanical design graphics and technical drawings from concept to detailed assembly.
Utilize SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, and Aspire for CNC applications.
Prepare and interpret technical documentation, blueprints, and CAD models.
Prototyping & Fabrication:
Design and build prototypes from scratch.
Operate and maintain 3D printers, laser etchers, and woodworking power tools.
Assemble mechanical components and systems including stepper motors, linear actuators, and microcontrollers.
CNC and Machining:
Write and modify G & M code for CNC operations.
Operate CNC machines and assist in machine setup and calibration.
Production & Manufacturing:
Understand and support production line operations with knowledge of industrial workflows.
Supervise manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, high-quality output.
Assist in process setup and control including IQ, OQ, PQ testing.
Inventory & Tools Management:
Manage inventory of tools, components, and raw materials.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of machine power tools and workshop equipment.
Process Improvement:
Participate in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze production efficiency and implement improvement plans to reduce costs and labor.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with product development and technical teams to support new product introduction.
Coordinate with vendors/suppliers to source components and equipment.
Liaise with stakeholders to align on production plans, budgets, and schedules.
Health, Safety & Sustainability:
Develop and enforce safety procedures in line with best practices.
Identify, report, and mitigate unsafe practices.
Promote environmentally conscious engineering and manufacturing methods.
Requirements:
Strong foundational knowledge in mechanical design and engineering graphics.
Proficiency in CAD tools like SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, and Aspire.
Basic understanding of CNC operations, G & M codes, and machining processes.
Experience with woodworking tools, hand tools, and prototyping technologies.
Familiarity with industrial production lines and manufacturing workflows.
Working knowledge of inventory systems and machine tool handling.
Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and electromechanical systems.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Experience in rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ).
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Prior experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Work Environment:
Workshop and office-based role with regular interaction across departments.
Involves physical activity including working with tools and machinery.
Safety protocols must be strictly followed at all times.
