1. Power Operations & Reliability
Ensure uninterrupted power supply to the alumina refinery and associated units.
Monitor plant performance metrics including PLF, heat rate, auxiliary consumption, and emissions.
Lead troubleshooting and reliability improvement initiatives across boilers, turbines, and auxiliaries.
2. Power Sales & Regulatory Interface
Manage surplus power sales through open access or bilateral agreements.
Interface with SLDC, DISCOMs, and regulatory bodies for scheduling, compliance, and settlements.
Ensure adherence to CERC/SERC norms and grid code requirements.
3. Coal Handling System (CHS)
Oversee end-to-end coal logistics including sourcing, unloading, stacking, and feeding.
Ensure coal quality management to support boiler efficiency and emission control.
Optimize coal inventory and consumption in line with production needs.
4. Ash Handling System (AHS)
Manage dry and wet ash handling systems ensuring safe disposal and utilization.
Coordinate with cement and brick industries for fly ash off-take.
Ensure compliance with MoEF & CC guidelines on ash utilization and disposal.
5. Maintenance & Asset Management
Lead preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
Drive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and root cause analysis (RCA) for chronic issues.
Plan and execute annual shutdowns and capital maintenance activities.
6. Safety, Environment & Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental norms.
Liaise with internal EHS teams and external agencies for audits and inspections.
Promote a culture of safety and sustainability across the power business.
7. Team Leadership & Development
Lead a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff across shifts.
Foster skill development, succession planning, and performance culture.
Collaborate with refinery operations for integrated utility planning.
Qualifications & Experience:
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering/ PGD in Thermal Power Plant Engineering
15+ years of experience in thermal power plant operations, preferably in captive setups.
Experience in alumina or metal industry utilities shall be preferred.
Strong understanding of power trading, coal logistics, and ash management.
