Job Summary:

The Level 2 SCCM Patch Management Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining the patch management infrastructure using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). This role involves deploying, testing, and monitoring patches and updates to ensure the security, stability, and compliance of the organization\'s systems. The Patch Management Engineer collaborates with Level 1 support, security teams, and other IT departments to implement effective patch management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

SCCM Patch Deployment:

\xc2\xb7 Plan, schedule, and deploy patches and updates to servers, workstations, and other endpoints using SCCM.

\xc2\xb7 Manage patch deployment groups and collections to target specific systems for patching.

\xc2\xb7 Coordinate and execute patch deployment activities to minimize service disruption and downtime.

Patch Testing and Validation:

\xc2\xb7 Test patches in a lab environment to verify compatibility and assess any potential impact on applications and systems.

\xc2\xb7 Work with application owners and stakeholders to validate patches against critical business applications.

Patch Compliance and Reporting:

\xc2\xb7 Monitor patch compliance levels across the organization and generate reports to track patch status and identify any non-compliant systems.

\xc2\xb7 Implement actions to improve patch compliance rates and resolve issues related to non-compliance.

Patch Management Automation:

\xc2\xb7 Create and maintain automated workflows and scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline patch management processes and increase efficiency.

Patching Policies and Procedures:

\xc2\xb7 Develop and update patch management policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure adherence to best practices and industry standards.

Troubleshooting:

\xc2\xb7 Investigate and resolve issues related to patch deployment failures or system performance degradation caused by patches.

\xc2\xb7 Collaborate with other IT teams to identify and address root causes of patch-related problems.

Change Management:

\xc2\xb7 Work within established change management processes to plan and execute patching activities.

\xc2\xb7 Communicate patching schedules and any potential service impacts to stakeholders and end-users.

Vulnerability Management Integration:

\xc2\xb7 Collaborate with the security team to align patch management processes with vulnerability management practices.

\xc2\xb7 Prioritize and address vulnerabilities based on severity and potential risks.

Security and Compliance:

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that patches are applied in a timely manner to address security vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with industry regulations.

\xc2\xb7 Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

\xc2\xb7 Maintain comprehensive documentation of patch management procedures, troubleshooting steps, and configurations.

\xc2\xb7 Share knowledge and provide training to Level 1 support and other IT team members.

Requirements:

\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

\xc2\xb7 Proven experience as an SCCM Patch Management Engineer with expertise in deploying and managing patches in an enterprise environment.

\xc2\xb7 In-depth knowledge of SCCM patch management features and functionality.

\xc2\xb7 Familiarity with scripting languages, such as PowerShell, for patch automation and customization.

\xc2\xb7 Understanding of vulnerability management concepts and practices.

\xc2\xb7 Experience in testing and validating patches before deployment.

\xc2\xb7 Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications.

\xc2\xb7 Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve patch-related issues.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with other IT teams.

\xc2\xb7 Certification in SCCM (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate) is a plus.
