Introduction: Accountable for service operations of Database & Dataware to required standard of availability, stability, performance, capacity and control. Focus on achieving strong discipline on Incident, Problem and Change management with extensive automation of operations.
What will you be doing? Manage large Database & Dataware Run team focusing on following aspects.

  • Accountable for Database & Dataware L2/L3 Operations
  • Responsible for L1 team functions for seamless delivery
  • Accountable for Incident, Problem and Change management disciplines for Database & Dataware
  • Responsible for delivery of sustaining controls into Database & Dataware e.g. Patching, SCD
  • Accountable for automation of Database & Dataware operations – e.g. self-healing, automated runbooks, automated change deployment.
  • Engaged in platform strategy, engineering and product management decisions, providing operations requirements
  • Accountable for executing resiliency events and using resiliency for operational recovery within Database & Dataware with a highly automated runbook.
  • Lead, manage and organise Database & Dataware RTB to execute the Barclays Strategy and Business Unit / Functional plans within committed financial targets for the delivery of all managed function services and adhere to group policies. Be accountable to the APAC Head of Enterprise Infrastructure and / or Functional Heads for quality and control of all services provided on their behalf - specifically:


  • Ensure that technology services are stable, available, resilient and secure when providing innovative and progressive products and services, and in partnering with the Business Units & Functional Peers to ensure their client and customer strategies are successfully achieved.
  • Pioneer innovation in automation of operations & products, continually enhancing the stability availability, resilience and security leading to capacity creation through uptime of customer and client services.
  • Develop and imbed a governance model within Database & Dataware operations.
  • Build a culture of high trust, collaboration and engagement across technology services, embedding effective partnerships with Functional Peers, Business Units, and ensuring Operations and Technology realise opportunities that benefit both the Group and individual Business Units.
  • Matrix reporting into the EI RTB leadership.

  • Implement & operate an effective system of controls across Database & Dataware. This should include a clear organisation structure and formal system of delegations of authority and accountability and a framework of supervision. Accountable for ensuring Barclays policies are implemented and consistently applied within technology services.
  • Responsible for monitoring technology services performance against SLA’s made to key business stakeholders (the Business Units and other Functions) and for customer and client delivery for technology services, and compliance with all laws, regulations and the Barclays policies.

  • Solid knowledge of any of the database technologies
  • Competent in discussing the technology with vendor escalation support team
  • High level of organisational awareness and understanding of how operational stability can be maximised through leveraging technology
  • Collaborative, able to drive agreement across varying stakeholders/interests
  • Analysis of complex technical problems across a large, multi-tiered estate, often under time pressure
  • Can describe existing technology infrastructure across all major functions/departments and has a comprehensive grasp of emerging technologies
  • Manages demanding clients and high-profile systems
  • Keen commercial and contract management awareness
  • Proven knowledge of all audit and control tools, techniques, and practices. Consults to others on the use and benefits of various security products, tools and facilities
  • Customer focused & service oriented
