The Database administrator will assist in managing and maintaining Crowe’s growing database infrastructure which include SQL, Azure SQL and Snowflake. Additionally, this individual will assist with regular application deployments, many of which must be completed in the late night hours (US Eastern Time). The ideal candidate will be available for deployments nightly (US Eastern Time) and some weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure database systems are stable, reliable and available based on industry standards
  • Establish and implement security standards within database systems including management of user accounts and logins, database server hardening and applying system updates as needed
  • Monitor performance of database systems and adjust hardware or software when appropriate to meet business needs
  • Provide advanced database diagnostic and troubleshooting services to end users
  • Ensure required database systems are included in disaster recovery infrastructure and capable of supporting business needs in case of a business continuity situation
  • Assist business users with deployments related to database systems
  • Investigate and stay abreast of technical and practical industry information related to the delivery of database services
  • Provide business with capacity planning guidelines related to database systems, ensuring current and future levels of use are appropriate
  • Ensure database designs meet technical requirements for uniqueness, consistency, isolation and durability
  • Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards
  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure SQL, Snowflake and other database systems implemented at Crowe
  • In-depth knowledge of database architecture using T-SQL for ad-hoc query creation and troubleshooting
  • Ability to provide code review services for end users in relevant languages (T-SQL, C#, etc.)
  • Familiarity with programming languages API
  • Expertise in ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) theory and application as it relates to data services at Crowe
  • Strong database administration and technical knowledge is required for solving complex database and business application infrastructure issues, for planning and managing projects, for implementing best practices, and for establishing and maintaining database technology architecture decisions
  • Maintain a strong, in-depth knowledge of relational database management systems and implement automated processes and procedures for monitoring, event detection, and alerting
  • Ability to creating ad hoc reports and/or queries, and develop system level procedures and routines
  • Ability to manage a number of projects, and be able to adjust quickly to changing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent organizational/project management and analytical skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Systems or engineering fields, or equivalent experience
  • Industry certification, a plus
  • 10 years related work experience
  • 5 years in Database Administration role
