Location/Division Specific Information U.S. Based Employees - Pittsburgh, PA How will you make an impact Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide unique solutions to our customers' individual needs Learn and use groundbreaking technologies Ability to construct new reports, dashboards to capture metrics for Operational and Business users Work directly with Amazon Web Service architects to help reproduce and resolve customer issues Ability to automate processes and procedures for new database environments Leverage your extensive customer support experience to provide feedback to our business users Act as a key point of contact between the business functions and IT. Work with users at all levels of the organization to analyze and translate business requirements into Database requirements. Together with business community, help to identify business value and to prioritize requirements according to expected business benefits Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs Translate high-level information into details as well as summarize detailed information Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs Experience with Agile solution development Communicate and collaborate with users to analyze information needs and functional requirements Work with specialists to gain an understanding of business data what it tells us, and how it's used Work with users to define concepts under direction of project leaders Liaise between the business, technology teams and support teams Participate in Service Desk function to resolve user related support calls Prepare and execute test plans, communication and training to end users for new functionality Ability to construct new reports, dashboards to capture metrics for Operational and Business users Work directly with Amazon Web Service architects to help reproduce and resolve customer issues Ability to automate processes and procedures for new database environments Leverage your extensive customer support experience to provide feedback to our business users Comply with company's Global IT Policies & Procedures Other duties as assigned What will you do The Database Administrator responsibility will include design, development and implementation of scalable services. The Database Administrator will also serve as a technical resource on development and infrastructure initiatives, assisting in the deployment and on-going support of applications and database infrastructure. Work seamlessly with other Database and IT professionals to design, deploy, and support critical Thermo Fisher Scientific business initiatives. Work to ensure that databases run efficiently and issue free. Demonstrate proficiency in the design, installation, and deployment of complex database landscapes. How will you get here Education BS Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field of study, or equivalent experience Experience 5+ years of professional experience in a dynamic environment with a primary focus on database services. Experience with SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016 or 2019, Management Studios Experience with AWS, Azure, Windows Experience with Windows Cluster, AlwaysOn, replication or active / passive database clusters. Experience with Operational related tasks and customer focus. Experience with systems development lifecycle Backup and recovery at both OS and database levels Experience with performance & tuning, troubleshooting, high availability and disaster recovery Operational and technical documentation Expertise in Amazon Web Services with building and deploying using various applications to automate business processes. Database security Database client installation and configuration Experience with Operational related tasks such as ticket closing, backup, restores, creation of new users and administration asks OS contention issue analysis and resolution and database performance troubleshooting. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Candidates must possess good analytical skills, as well as written and oral communication skills. Ability to work well in a dynamic team environment and independently.
