Are you a Database Administrator looking for a new challenge?

We want to appoint a Database Administrator to manage our databases. It is a key role in our Digital Team and will help us deliver on our Business and Digital Strategy

As a highly motivated and experienced Database Administrator (DBA), you will help with our growing database environment. This role is key to help maintain the high reliability and performance of our applications. We have many shared databases and an environment which is constantly growing.


Responsibilities



Working within the Digital Group, the role will include the development, management and enhancement of the following key areas:
  • Working as a part of the database team that designs, installs, tests, maintains and controls production and non-production databases.
  • Apply security updates and service packs in a timely manner, making best efforts to ensure that performance, reliability, and integrity are not compromised as a result.
  • Database administration responsibilities include upgrades and optimization, setup and management of database resilience and backup strategies.
  • Perform disaster recovery planning, documentation and testing.
  • Manage, refine and automate regular database support activities & processes plus discover automation opportunities to replace manual processes
  • Investigate and resolve technical database issues. Support and assist/lead Root Cause Analysis reviews when applicable.
  • Ability to modify and create views, queries, stored procedures and SSIS jobs to facilitate consumption of data by multiple groups.


Key requirements
  • Proven expertise in DBMS (SQL and/or Oracle) and OS technologies.
  • Proven experience of database optimization and monitoring
  • Requires experience in file structures, design, retrieval and access methods and related tasks.
  • Proven ability in the diagnoses and troubleshooting of database errors
  • Proven experience creating stored procedures, views and functions
  • Good working knowledge of multiple database types / providers
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Broad knowledge of peripheral technologies
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills


Qualifications

  • Ideally a Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems and 5 years of Information Systems and Database Administration experience
  • Candidates must have an expert understanding of databases
  • Previous experience leveraging various toolsets for Database Administration, Performance, Reporting, Backups and monitoring
  • Candidates should have a strong understanding of technology and experience in applications, operating systems, networks & cloud platforms.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently.
  • Excellent numerical & analytical skills to include excellent computer literacy & comprehensive experience in system interoperability.
  • Excellent collaborative and people skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
