The Role: Data Analyst

The Team: Bank Regulatory Financial team mainly covers financial data filed by regulated financial institutions in United States. In terms of industries, Bank Reg cover Commercial banks, Savings Banks, Savings associations, Bank holding companies, Thrift holding companies and Credit unions. Apart from this Bank Reg also has few smaller datasets, which includes CRA (Community Reinvestment Act), Enforcement actions, BankInsight Ratings and FHLB (Federal Home Loan Banks) Membership. Recently Bank Reg also started covering financial data for institutions in other countries like Colombia and Mexico as part of the global regulatory project.

The Impact: The candidate in this role will serve as a subject matter expert of Bank Reg datasets. This role requires working constructively with a diverse group of data operations, product management, research team, commercial and technology teams on Bank Reg datasets. This role also requires good understanding of regulatory changes, operational transformation and other initiative run by Bank Reg team. The candidate will implement appropriate policies, processes, procedures and provide training and expertise wherever needed. The candidate may also act as a business owner of the data and work to make sure that high quality data is published in product.

• Become a Subject Matter Expert for bank reg datasets with deep rooted knowledge of the data structures, Bank Reg tools like scraper, loaders, mover, processor, and aggregator.
• Opportunity to learn DMS and SQL to manage workflow.
• Help drive improvement to products, product usability and client experience.

Responsibilities:

• As part of Bank Reg team, the candidate will be responsible for current quarter and restatement data processing, quarterly field addition projects related to regulatory changes, research on client question and other initiatives owned by the department.
• Work effectively and constructively with a diverse group of data operations, product management, research, commercial and technology teams on regulatory changes, operational transformation, and client-first initiatives.
• Leads the data workflow process and generates innovative ideas for research practices.
• Sets standards, policies, and criteria for Data Operations in data collation, analysis, extraction, transformation, validation, and regulatory filings for Bank Reg datasets.
• Leads critical business processes, provide critical analysis on regulatory changes.
• Define solutions to bridge and fill-in gaps on client deliverables.

• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with relational database concepts
• Keen sense of urgency and focus on client delivery
• Strong workflow and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet critical deadlines
• Basic knowledge of advance Excel, SQL and DMS.
• Good understanding of platforms and systems (MI Platform, CTS, Doc repository, Pathfinder, etc.)
• Experience of working in Agile would be an added advantage
• Exposure of Lean and automation tools.
• Strong analytical skills and data-oriented mindset.
