Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Provide

individual and group counseling

to patients dealing with acute or chronic medical conditions, trauma, terminal illness, or post-operative recovery. Support patients and their families in

adjusting to diagnoses, treatment plans, and hospitalization

. Conduct

psychosocial assessments

, develop intervention plans, and maintain progress notes in accordance with hospital policy. Collaborate with

multidisciplinary teams

(physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, etc.) to integrate mental health support into patient care. Offer

crisis intervention

and support during medical emergencies or high-stress situations (e.g., ICU, emergency, palliative care units). Educate patients and families on

coping strategies, stress management, and community resources

. Refer patients to specialized mental health services when necessary (e.g., psychiatrists, addiction counselors). Provide support to hospital staff during high-stress periods or after traumatic patient care events. Participate in staff training, wellness initiatives, and patient care planning sessions.

Qualifications:

Education:

Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field from a recognized institution.

Licensure/Certification:

Licensed or registered counselor/therapist as per local regulations (e.g., RCI registration in India, LPC/LMHC in the US, etc.)

Experience:

Minimum

2-5 years of counseling experience in a hospital or clinical healthcare setting

. Experience in working with patients facing chronic illness, trauma, grief, or psychiatric comorbidities is highly preferred.
