The Continental Commis 1 is responsible for preparing and assisting in the cooking of continental cuisine dishes while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation. They work under the supervision of the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook continental dishes according to recipes and standards
Assist senior chefs during food preparation and service
Handle mise en place for the continental section
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work station
Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items
Reduce food wastage and control portion sizes
Maintain kitchen equipment and report faults
Support smooth kitchen operations during service
Required Skills & Qualifications
Basic knowledge of continental cuisine
Understanding of kitchen operations and food safety
Good knife skills and cooking techniques
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Teamwork and communication skills
Prior experience as a Commis or kitchen trainee preferred
Work Environment
Hotels, restaurants, resorts, or catering kitchens
Shift-based work including weekends and holidays
