General Mills India Center (GIC) operates out of Mumbai and supports the global operations of General Mills. The center was established in 2005 and has grown in strength. Today, we are a vibrant and diverse team of over 1500 employees that come together to champion business services for the various global entities of General Mills in the areas of Business Operations, Analytics Consulting, Logistics, Finance, IT Development & Technology Consulting, Consumer & Market Intelligence, Sales Capabilities, Research & Development.

Digital and Technology team
Digital and Technology is the largest team in GIC, which focuses on understanding the latest and innovative trends in technology and leading the adoption of cutting-edge technologies at General Mills. The team closely collaborates with global business teams to understand business models and assess where technology can leveraged to bring efficiency and disruption. Job Overview
Role: Consultant \xe2\x80\x93 Backend Engineering
Location: Mumbai, India

• The Backend Engineering Consultant will be responsible for API design, cloud architecture, 3rd party integrations, database design, and DevOps.
• They should have strong technical skills in Node.js, GraphQL, MongoDB, GCP, and Terraform, as well as experience with E-commerce integration and Identity Management tools.

Role Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain APIs that meet business requirements.
• Design and implement cloud-based architectures for high-performance, scalable, and reliable backend systems.
• Evaluate, integrate, and maintain third-party solutions and services to ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
• Design, develop, and maintain databases that meet scalability and performance requirements.
• Adhere to SOLID principles and develop unit tests for all components of the system.
• Work with identity management tools such as Forgerock to implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Integrate e-commerce platforms like Shopify to provide a seamless buying experience to customers.
• Implement DevOps best practices and contribute to continuous delivery and deployment pipelines.
• Design and develop serverless and cloud function-based systems using technologies such as AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, and Firebase Functions.
• Use Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) tools to manage cloud infrastructure.
• Work in an agile environment, collaborating with product owners, UX/UI designers, and front-end developers to deliver high-quality software products.
• Design and develop CMS solutions to enable content creators to manage and publish content on websites and other digital platforms.
• Develop consumer-facing applications that deliver an exceptional user experience.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB to store and manage data effectively.
• Use Node.js and GraphQL to build backend systems that can support high concurrency and scalability.
• Deploy applications on Kubernetes and manage clusters to ensure high availability and scalability.
• Use GitHub, SVN, and GitHub Actions for version control, collaboration, and automated testing.

Must - have technical skills and experience

• Strong experience in API design, development, and maintenance.
• Cloud architecture expertise with experience in GCP.
• Good knowledge of database design and experience with MongoDB and SQL.
• Experience in 3rd party integrations and solution architecture.
• Proficiency in Node.js and GraphQL.
• Experience with serverless/cloud functions and DevOps.
• Understanding of SOLID principles and experience in unit testing.
• Experience with Identity Management Tools such as Forgerock.
• Experience in E-commerce Integration (Shopify).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Agile software development experience.

Good to have skills

• Experience with enterprise mobile application development
• Knowledge of CMS solutions such as Episerver, Drupal, or WordPress.
• Experience in consumer-facing application development.
• Understanding of SQL and NoSQL database concepts.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Git version control systems such as GitHub and SVN.
• Knowledge of automated testing frameworks such as Mocha, Chai, or Jasmine.
• Familiarity with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Knowledge of other programming languages such as Python or Java.
