Job Description

The construction head manages the entire project lifecycle (EPC) - Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning - focusing on safety, quality, budget, and timelines, coordinating stakeholders (clients, contractors, regulators), resolving technical/interface issues (Civil, Mech, E&I), ensuring compliance, and driving project completion for smooth handover to O&M, requiring extensive experience in large-scale thermal projects.

  • Project Leadership: Oversee all EPC phases, from detailed planning and execution to commissioning, ensuring project milestones are met.
  • HSE (Health, Safety, Environment): Implement and enforce strict safety policies, aiming for best practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, regulators, and internal teams (Civil, Mechanical, C&I, Electrical).
  • Planning & Control: Develop resource-based plans, monitor progress (daily/weekly), manage budgets, and identify critical path activities.
  • Technical Oversight: Resolve complex technical issues, manage interfaces between different project packages, and ensure quality standards.
  • Contract & Commercial: Handle contract administration, cost estimation, tender preparation, and manage procurement functions.
  • Team Development: Build and lead project teams, fostering a productive work environment.
  • Handover: Prepare the plant for smooth transition to the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) phase.

  • B.Tech/B.E. (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects for supercritical thermal power plants
  • 25+ years of experience in managing large thermal power plant projects (coal, gas, CCGT), handling end-to-end lifecycle, with significant experience at Construction level.
  • Knowledge of project management software (Primavera, MS Project), and deep understanding of power plant systems
  • Expertise in project planning, budgeting, and execution.
  • Familiarity with safety and quality standards in construction.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
