Role Description

A Senior Engineer is responsible for designing and developing entire engineering solutions to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of this role include ensuring that solutions are well architected, with maintainability and ease of testing built in from the outset, and that they can be integrated successfully into the end-to-end business process flow. They will have gained significant experience through multiple implementations and have begun to develop both depth and breadth in a number of engineering competencies. They have extensive knowledge of design and architectural patterns. They will provide engineering thought leadership within their teams, and will play a role in mentoring and coaching of less experienced engineers.

Your key responsibilities

• Have experience of Infrastructure automation development to enhance and extend our Microsoft Windows Server estate and support capability.
• To work as part of a team responsible for the support and delivery of improvements across a large Windows based estate.
• Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts including TCP/IP connections, HTTP Protocol, SSL, firewalls, VLANs, Proxy enablement, DNS, Load balancing.
• Operating System patching and patching toolsets.
• Communicate regularly with technical, development and operational staff to maintain Platform integrity, capacity, and security.
• Proven work experience as a Windows Administrator, detailed knowledge of Windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance.
• Proactively identify opportunities for work optimization including opportunities for automation of work.

Your skills and experience

• Advanced Windows Server Administration knowledge particularly covering Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2019.
• Strong understanding of the Microsoft patch release process and related deployment technologies.
• Scripting experience in PowerShell and PowerCLI.
• Good Hands experience in one of the programming language Python, Perl, or Ruby.
• Must have good understanding of Immutable infrastructure.
• Good strong fundamental understanding of one public Cloud Platform GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Experience in the financial services industry or equivalent large-scale, high-volume environment.
• Knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITILv3) framework.
• Working experience of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform Enterprise).
• Knowledge of Atlassian's Confluence and JIRA products.
• Experience with distributed version control tool (Git, GitHub, Bitbucket).
• Experience building custom images using Packers.
• Significant experience working in a professional environment and solid understanding of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery.
• Good understanding of Active Directory, Windows OS and user/group access including GPO.
• Proper understanding setting up access control integrated with AD.
• Good knowledge on managing enterprise level Virtual Infrastructure running on VMware or Google Cloud.
• GCP certification is a plus.
