Communications Head

Job Description


  • Manage the Communications Team, develops and implements project multi-year and regional communications strategy and Hub communications plan.
  • Work with Objective Heads to write success stories, lessons learned, and activity reports, following USAID and project branding and marking guidelines.
  • Responsible for coordination and communication for the Hub.
  • Work with the MEL Manager to create an inward- and outward-facing learning agenda and ensure that it serves as both a communication and learning tool.
  • Guide the Training and Events Specialist to design, organize, plan, and manage regional events related to project and Hub activities.
  • Ensure compliance with USAID communications, marketing, and branding guidelines.
  • Liaise with RTI home office communications team.
  • Head all internal and external communications reporting in coordination with COP and USAID, including social media, success stories, annual and quarterly reports, etc.
  • Interact with external agencies including PR and event agencies, media, publication firms etc. under guidance of COP and WS-1 Leader

  • Master’s degree in Communication, Advertising, Public Relations, English literature, or related field relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience; or bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience.
  • Communications experience on donor-funded projects preferred.
  • Experience in social media strategies, platforms and delivery of campaigns is required.
  • Experience in a public relations firm or a Heading publication firm is desired.
  • Experience preparing communications plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about communications objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal/relationship building skills.
  • Strong influencing and coaching skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and within matrix project and program teams.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of one or more regional languages is highly desirable.
  • Culturally sensitive and respectful.
