Commis I is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food items as per recipes, standards, and hygiene practices. This role requires assisting senior chefs in daily kitchen operations, maintaining food quality, and ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to standard recipes and quality requirements.
Ensure proper mise-en-place (pre-preparation) before each service.
Assist the Chef de Partie in managing a specific section of the kitchen.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene in the workstation at all times.
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food items (FIFO).
Check freshness of ingredients and report spoilage/shortages to supervisors.
Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines.
Support junior kitchen staff (Commis II, Commis III) with guidance and training.
Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth operations during service.
Perform any additional duties assigned by the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or Executive Chef.
