The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in the preparation and presentation of food, ensuring high standards of quality, hygiene, and efficiency. This is an entry-level position ideal for developing culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
Assist in preparing ingredients, mise en place, and basic cooking tasks
Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs accurately
Support food service during busy periods
Kitchen Operations
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations
Properly store food items according to hygiene standards
Assist with receiving, checking, and storing kitchen supplies
Health, Safety & Hygiene
Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations at all times
Ensure proper handling of food and equipment
Report any equipment issues or safety concerns promptly
Team Support & Learning
Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff
Learn new cooking techniques and kitchen procedures
Accept feedback and demonstrate willingness to improve skills
Qualifications & Skills
Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
Passion for food and willingness to learn
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Culinary training or certificate preferred but not required
