Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of sushi, sashimi, rolls, and other Japanese menu items
Prepare ingredients including fish, rice, vegetables, and sauces according to recipes and standards
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station at all times
Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP)
Support senior chefs during service to ensure timely and consistent food delivery
Properly store food items and assist with stock rotation and inventory
Help with receiving and checking deliveries
Maintain knives, tools, and kitchen equipment in good condition
Adhere to restaurant policies, procedures, and health regulations
Requirements & Qualifications
Basic knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation
Culinary qualification or relevant kitchen experience preferred
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs
Strong attention to detail and presentation
Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
Good teamwork and communication skills
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
Desirable Skills
Experience handling raw fish
Knowledge of sushi rice preparation
Passion for Japanese cuisine
Food safety certification (advantage)
