The Commis Chef will assist in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and cooking of Indian dishes, including curries, gravies, rice dishes, breads, and appetizers
Support senior chefs with daily mise en place and service
Prepare basic spice mixes, marinades, sauces, and ingredients as instructed
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen equipment
Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP)
Properly store food items and assist with stock rotation
Assist with receiving and checking deliveries
Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation meet restaurant standards
Follow all kitchen policies and procedures
Requirements & Qualifications
Basic knowledge of Indian cuisine and cooking techniques
Culinary training or previous kitchen experience preferred but not essential
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Good teamwork and communication skills
Attention to detail and cleanliness
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
Desirable Skills
Familiarity with Indian spices and ingredients
Experience in a professional kitchen
Food safety or hygiene certification
