is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting authentic South Indian dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. The role requires a solid understanding of South Indian flavors, ingredients, and cooking techniques, ensuring high-quality food and consistency in every dish served.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook a variety of South Indian dishes such as dosas, idlis, vadas, upma, sambar, rasam, and regional specialties.
Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
Assist in menu development and contribute ideas for new South Indian items.
Ensure all mise en place is prepared and organized before each service.
Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, sanitation, and safety at all times.
Monitor the freshness and quality of ingredients and report any discrepancies to the senior chef.
Properly label, store, and rotate food items to minimize waste.
Assist in receiving and storing supplies according to company procedures.
Work collaboratively with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth operations.
Comply with all HACCP and kitchen safety standards.
Take responsibility for assigned kitchen equipment and ensure it is clean and well-maintained.
Qualifications and Skills:
Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional training.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, specializing in South Indian cuisine.
Strong knowledge of traditional South Indian recipes, spices, and cooking techniques.
Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexible to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Passion for authentic South Indian cuisine and attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long hours during service.
Able to lift and move moderate weights as required in kitchen operations.
Comfortable working in a hot and busy kitchen environment.
