The Commis 1 (Chinese Cuisine) is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting authentic Chinese dishes under the guidance of senior chefs. This role requires strong knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations. The Commis 1 ensures food quality, hygiene, and safety standards are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare ingredients and cook Chinese dishes according to recipes and specifications.
Support Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in all kitchen operations.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of all food items.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation at all times.
Monitor food stock levels and assist in inventory control.
Follow proper portion control and minimize food waste.
Adhere strictly to hygiene, sanitation, and safety guidelines.
Assist in receiving and inspecting kitchen supplies when required.
Communicate effectively with team members for smooth kitchen operations.
Be open to learning and improving skills through training and feedback.
Qualifications and Skills:
Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts or relevant field (preferred).
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a Chinese kitchen or similar role.
Knowledge of Chinese cooking methods (wok cooking, steaming, stir-frying, etc.).
Familiarity with traditional Chinese ingredients and sauces.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure kitchen environment.
Strong teamwork, time management, and multitasking skills.
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Standing for long hours during shifts.
