The Continental Commis 2 is responsible for assisting in the preparation and basic cooking of continental dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. This role involves performing basic kitchen tasks such as chopping, prepping ingredients, and maintaining cleanliness while learning advanced cooking techniques.
Key Responsibilities
:
Assist in preparing and cooking basic continental dishes such as salads, sandwiches, soups, pasta, and sauces.
Support Commis 1 and Chef de Partie in mise-en-place and kitchen prep tasks.
Follow food safety and hygiene standards strictly (HACCP).
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food ingredients (FIFO method).
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work station.
Operate kitchen tools and basic equipment safely and correctly.
Assist in plating and garnishing dishes as instructed.
Learn and adapt to kitchen procedures, recipes, and cooking techniques.
Help in receiving, checking, and storing deliveries properly.
Perform cleaning duties at the end of shifts and as required during service.
Requirements
:
1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen; experience in continental cuisine is preferred.
Basic knowledge of Western cooking methods and kitchen operations.
Willingness to learn and grow within the culinary team.
Ability to follow instructions and work in a team.
Strong hygiene practices and good personal grooming.
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods in a fast-paced kitchen.
