supports the kitchen team by performing basic food preparation tasks, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and assisting chefs as needed. This role is essential to ensuring smooth kitchen operations and upholding hygiene and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:Food Preparation Support:
Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruits as directed
Assist in basic food prep like portioning, assembling ingredients, or preparing garnishes
Load and unload food supplies and kitchen tools
Cleaning & Sanitation:
Clean kitchen equipment, work surfaces, and utensils after use
Maintain cleanliness in all kitchen areas including floors, storage, and prep stations
Dispose of kitchen waste properly and follow garbage segregation rules
Follow hygiene and food safety standards (e.g., hand washing, wearing gloves/hairnets)
General Assistance:
Support chefs during busy hours by delivering ingredients and supplies
Store food and ingredients properly, ensuring FIFO (first-in-first-out) stock rotation
Refill kitchen supplies and clean dishes when needed
Perform any other duties assigned by the Chef or Supervisor
Requirements:
No formal experience required, but prior work in a kitchen is a plus
Basic understanding of kitchen safety and hygiene practices
Willingness to work hard in a fast-paced environment
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Physically fit and able to lift/move kitchen equipment or supplies
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Basic food hygiene certificate (preferred, not mandatory)
Experience in a commercial kitchen environment
