, you will assist in the preparation and cooking of authentic Chinese dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and consistency in accordance with kitchen standards and recipes.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare mise en place and cook Chinese dishes such as stir-fries, dim sum, noodles, rice, soups, and sauces.
Assist in the daily operations of the Chinese section, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
Follow recipes and presentation standards to ensure consistency in taste and quality.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of your workstation at all times.
Ensure all food items are stored properly and used before expiry.
Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP or local guidelines).
Work closely with the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in executing kitchen tasks.
Assist in receiving and checking the quality of supplies and ingredients.
Support other kitchen sections if required during peak hours or special events.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in Chinese or Asian cuisine.
Basic knowledge of traditional Chinese cooking techniques (e.g. wok cooking, steaming, braising).
Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
Team player with good communication and time-management skills.
Physically fit to work long shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
Culinary diploma or certificate in Chinese/Asian cuisine.
1-2 years of experience as a Commis Chef in a Chinese kitchen.
Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment (woks, steamers, deep fryers, etc.).
