Job Description

Machine Setup and Operation:

CNC operators prepare CNC machines for production by loading materials, setting up tooling, and inputting the correct program to cut, shape, or drill the material according to specifications.

Monitoring and Inspection:

They observe the machine's operation, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently, and inspect finished parts to verify they meet the required quality and accuracy standards.

Troubleshooting:

CNC operators identify and resolve issues that may arise during the production process, such as machine malfunctions or errors in the program.

Maintenance and Quality Control:

They perform routine maintenance on the machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs, and ensure the quality of the finished products through inspection and measurement.

Following Safety Procedures:

CNC operators adhere to strict safety protocols to minimize risks and hazards in the workplace.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in operating CNC machines, including understanding machine controls, programming, and troubleshooting.

Blueprint Reading:

Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand the required specifications for the finished product.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry, are often needed for calculations and measurements.

Problem-Solving Skills:

CNC operators must be able to identify and resolve issues that arise during the production process.

Attention to Detail:

Precision and accuracy are crucial in CNC machining, requiring operators to pay close attention to detail.

Physical Stamina:

The job may involve standing for extended periods and lifting or moving materials.

Education and Training:

Typically, a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with vocational training or an apprenticeship in CNC machining.
